Bishkek, Jan. 12, 2018. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Japan Chyngyz Aidarbekov met with Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Noriko Suzuki, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
The sides discussed the most relevant and promising areas of cooperation, which will be given special attention in the coming year.
JICA vice president highly appreciated the presidential election held in Kyrgyzstan in Oc. 2017. In this connection, the Ambassador expressed gratitude for the congratulations on the occasion of the democratically elected new President of the country and emphasized the importance of technical assistance received from the Japanese Government in 2015 and 2017 in the amount of about $ 11.7 million, which was aimed at improving the electoral system.
Suzuki noted with satisfaction the fruitful nature of cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. She also noted that the priority areas of JICA's activities coincide with the development strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic, which include, inter alia, promotion of agricultural production; development of road and transport infrastructure.
In his turn, the Ambassador drew attention to the fact that Japan is a reliable partner of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The sides also discussed the possibility of providing technical assistance from JICA, which will be aimed at supporting dairy producers in terms of improving the certification system of their products in accordance with international standards. This measure will contribute to strengthening the overall capacity of the country's agricultural sector.
