Bishkek, Feb. 27, 2018 / Kabar /. Prime Minister Sapar Isakov met with Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Head of the Department for Infrastructure Policy Matthew Jordan-Tank. Key issues of joint cooperation were discussed during the meeting, as well as plans for development of the country's airports.
The Head of Government emphasized that the EBRD is a reliable partner for Kyrgyzstan, which makes a great contribution to social and economic development of the republic.
Sapar Isakov also stressed that the Government plans to continue the reconstruction and modernization of International Airports Manas and Osh, to increase their throughput capacity and improve the infrastructure.
The Prime Minister said that these airports have a great capacity to become a major air hub in the region.
EBRD Director, Head of the Department for Infrastructure Policy Matthew Jordan-Tank specified his readiness for joint cooperation on this issue.
He presented to the Head of Kyrgyz Government information on the EBRD's experience in the development and modernization of international airports in various countries of the world.
In addition, the EBRD Director emphasized that to date there is an internal coordination procedure for allocating funds to Kyrgyzstan for projects on rehabilitation of water supply systems in the regions and EUR 86 mln for improving irrigation systems.
Sapar Isakov instructed to create a working group consisting of representatives of relevant state authorities under the leadership of Vice Prime Minister Sanjar Mukanbetov to conduct more detailed negotiations with the EBRD on possibility of joint cooperation on development and modernization of the International Airport Manas.
